Built in 1925,
the house was originally used for commercial trades and also as an Inn. Due to this fact, today we can still find the original names for each room,
associated to its function. For example, the “quarto do Paneiro” was the room of the fabric vendor, and was located nearby to the stable where he kept
his donkey.
In addition to this room there are others which were occupied by goldsmiths who came from the north of the country to sell their gold products door to
door.
Whenever they returned to this place for the so called “four month season”, these individuals were highly valued by the local people and were always
respectfully welcomed.
Next to the main house was the tavern. It was a spacious house with a fireplace and schist floor, which was a place of entertainment for people in the
area for over 50 years.
The house was then known by everyone as the “Mr. Pereira’s house” which became a historical legacy of that region and is now part of an extremely
valuable cultural heritage.
Nowadays, having been restored and adapted to meet the standards of current accommodations, the house is a comfortable and welcoming place of Tourism
in the Countryside, designated as a Countryside House. Today, as “Casa da Sao”, this space has retrieved its origins to accommodate those who come to
this region in search of a place to discover and experience unique moments that the big cities will never be able to provide.
